Algonquin Township Road District

Culvert Inventory

StateLine GIS & Drone Services was contracted by the Algonquin Township Road District to perform a culvert inventory.  This task was completed by using the Road Districts ArcGIS Online account in conjunction with Collector for ArcGIS to collect data in the field using a smart phone.  Collector for ArcGIS is a collects the data location and the allows the user to input data attributes such as culvert opening size and length, material (concrete, steel, etc), location (driveway or street), flow direction, and other attributes.  Photos of each culvert were also included.

The data collected was reviewed for accuracy and a "web app" was created in ArcGIS Online for staff use.  The web app enables users to filter the data by attributes collected in the field such as the amount of debris found in the culvert and physical status of culverts.  This greatly increases the ability of the district to identify culverts that need to be cleaned out or replaced.  The web app also enables the user to search for by address for times when property owners might call in to the road district for service.

STREET Sign Inventory

StateLine GIS & Drone Services was contracted by the Algonquin Township Road District to perform a Sign Inventory.  Just like the Culvert Inventory, this task was completed by using the Road Districts ArcGIS Online account in conjunction with Collector for ArcGIS to collect data in the field using a smart phone.  Collector for ArcGIS is a collects the data location and the allows the user to input data attributes such as sign type (MUTCD), size, condition, install date, post type, post condition and other attributes.  Photos of each sign were also included.

The data collected was reviewed for accuracy and a "web app" was created in ArcGIS Online for staff use.  The web app enables users to filter the data by attributes collected in the field such as the age of signs or physical condition of the sign.  This greatly increases the ability of the district to identify signs that need to be repaired or replaced.  The web app also enables the user to search for by address for times when property owners might call in to the road district for service.  The web app also enables the use of "heat map" to show concentrations of signs by age or other attributes.

DRONE PROJECTS

Ryan passed his FAA Part 107 test in September 2019 to become a certified Remote Pilot.  Drone projects are done using a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone that is capable of 20 megapixel still images and 4K video.  Below is a sample the imagery and video that the drone is capable of collecting.
